The Phantom Flex 2K sometimes referred to as the Phantom Flex 2.5K is one of the most advanced high-speed cameras on the market. It replaces the Phantom HD Gold Phantom camera. Compared to its predecessor, this camera offers improved sensitivity making it easier to achieve proper exposure even with low exposure times required by high-speed takes.
With its full resolution of 2,560×1,600 pixels, the Phantom Flex 2K provides a field of view and depth of field similar to the Super 35 mm. The sensor uses a global shutter, which prevents rolling shutter artifacts. In its top configuration, it captures color high-speed images in 12bit Cine raw format. In FullHD, it provides the highest frame rate achievable among movie cameras, a whopping 2,560 frames-per-second and up to 1,450 frames-per-second at full 2.5K resolution. The 16GB internal memory lets you capture up to 5 seconds in FullHD with a running time of 3 minutes when played back. The camera also supports continuous capture at 195 frames-per-second in 2.5K and up to 362 frames-per-second in FullHD directly to CineMag II removable media.
The 12 bit Cine raw file format ensures the highest quality high-speed capture and provides maximum flexibility in post-production. The Cine raw format is currently supported by many types of editing software, so you do not need to transcode it to other formats. The 10 bit Apple ProRes 422 HQ format is also available, which lets you store high quality video, simplifies workflow, saves disk space, and shortens data transfer time. Thanks to its capability to record uncompressed raw as well as industry-standard compression, the workflow is just as flexible as your frame rate options.
You can adjust the camera settings using the Phantom Flex 2K interface, which ensures intuitive use, improves your productivity on set, and lets you do it all without connecting to a computer. Moreover, the camera also provides a continuous live view both in in 1080p.
